Little Notes

I’m Looking for Criticism

I don’t post as often as I want to because I feel like my writing or the topics I like to write about aren’t good enough. I don’t really know who this imaginary “audience” in my head is, and I don’t understand why their bar is set so high. There’s like four real people reading my blog at the moment, and they seem to be cool. So, to the four of you—please let me know why you read this, what you like, what you don’t like, and what you would like.

  1. First I have to start by saying that this post speaks to me on a subatomic level!!! I feel like 99% of the people who come to my blog landed on it by mistake, which I don’t mind really. But then, when I’m about to hit post, it’s like my favorite writers are going to read it and I’m trying to impress them or something. (sigh)

I really enjoy your blog. It feels easy and unfiltered. Yet, it’s sophisticated and high quality content.
There’s people that blog like they tweet and I like that that’s not what you’re doing.

I am pretty sure that there is like a million drafts on your dashboard that are 80% done and that you’re not quite ready to let out. And you know what, as much as I am tempted to tell you to post them, I would say, leave it. let it cook. Who know how it would turn out with a little more work.
After all the process is the actual journey that matters more than clicking “post”.
That said, I totally know what it’s like to have something that you just want to share with the world and that no matter how hard you try you can’t figure out a way to fix it. If that’s the case, then definitely let it go.
Also editing is always an option. For someone with as little attention to detail as I, editing published posts has been my personal savior.

btw, thank you for being so candid. It’s something I try to emulate in my blog.

    1. “There’s people that blog like they tweet” this made me laugh, because I constantly feel like I tweet how I blog and it goes against what twitter should be like.

Thanks for the reply. I try not to keep my drafts in WordPress (seeing a long list there makes me anxious), but yeah, there’s a very large folder in my google drive full of posts that will probably never see the light of day. But hey, thank you for replying! It’s cool that you actually took the time and read/wrote here.

Editing publish posts is a good idea. I can always post and delete in a week/month/year if it doesn’t live up to my expectations, so that’s a good tip! Again, thank you for showing up to my sad, lonely party. At least the music is 🔥 .
